Frink
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: Frink is a programming language and calculation tool.
Frink is a programming language and calculating tool designed to help you in the real world.
Tracks units of measure (feet, meters, tons, dollars, watts, etc.) through all calculations and allows you to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them effortlessly, and makes sure the answer comes out correct, even if you mix units like gallons and liters.
Arbitrary-precision math, including huge integers and floating-point numbers, rational numbers (that is, fractions like 1/3 are kept without loss of precision,) and complex numbers.
Advanced mathematical functions including trigonometric functions (even for complex numbers,) factoring and primality testing, and base conversions.
Conversion between thousands of unit types with a huge built-in data file.
Date/time math (add offsets to dates, find out intervals between times,) timezone conversions, and user-modifiable date formats.
Calculates historical buying power of the U.S. dollar and British pound.
Powerful Perl-like regular expression capabilities and text processing.
Reads HTTP and FTP-based URLs as easily as reading local files, allowing fetching of live web-based data.
User interface has a Programming Mode which allows you to write, edit, save, and run extremely powerful programs even on a handheld device.
Frink is a full-fledged programming language with arrays, dictionaries, functions, loops, even object-oriented programming and self-evaluation.
Java Introspection layer allows you to call any Java code from within Frink.

GNU bison
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: General-purpose parser generator
This IPK provides bison, which is a GNU tool required to compile some applications.
From the GNU website: Bison is a general-purpose parser generator that converts a grammar description for an LALR context-free grammar into a C program to parse that grammar. Once you are proficient with Bison, you can use it to develop a wide range of language parsers, from those used in simple desk calculators to complex programming languages.
Bison is upward compatible with Yacc: all properly-written Yacc grammars ought to work with Bison with no change. Anyone familiar with Yacc should be able to use Bison with little trouble. You need to be fluent in C programming in order to use Bison.

GNU gperf
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: Perfect hash function generator
This IPK provides GNU gperf, which is needed to compile some applications. From the GNU website: GNU gperf is a perfect hash function generator. For a given list of strings, it produces a hash function and hash table, in form of C or C++ code, for looking up a value depending on the input string. The hash function is perfect, which means that the hash table has no collisions, and the hash table lookup needs a single string comparison only.
GNU gperf is highly customizable. There are options for generating C or C++ code, for emitting switch statements or nested ifs instead of a hash table, and for tuning the algorithm employed by gperf.

Icarus Verilog
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: Verilog simulation and synthesis tool
Icarus Verilog is a Verilog simulation and synthesis tool. It operates as a compiler, compiling source code writen in Verilog (IEEE-1364) into some target format. For batch simulation, the compiler can generate an intermediate form called vvp assembly. This intermediate form is executed by the ``vvp'' command. For synthesis, the compiler generates netlists in the desired format.
This IPK contains an ARM build of Icarus Verilog. I built this so I could write and test my Verilog code while on the run. The Zaurus processor is easily powerful enough to run this compiler, but if you dump variables your output files can become large very quickly! Therefore, a high-capacity memory card or microdrive is recommended.

About: Japanese inputmethod plugin using Anthy
IMKit-Anthy is a Japanese inputmethod that implements the InputMethodInterface of Qtopia.
Although this software is designed to input Japanese, some parts in IMKit framework are useful for other purpose.
Install this software to OpenZaurus/Opie is currently not recommended. It will be supported well by next version (0.4.0). Some configuration matter should be solved to support It.

Java SerialPort and javax.comm.SerialPort
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: Java serial port API runs on over 26 platforms
If your device plugs into a serial port - on or off the Internet - runs on a PDA, or multi-processor heavy iron - use SerialPort to communicate with it. SerialPort is unmatched by any other serial port package for Java in the world. SerialPort is used by more developers, on more platforms than any other product of its kind. SerialPort is more powerful, more flexible, runs on more VM's, and more platforms, than any other Java serial port product. SerialPort is a set of high-performance Java classes that also provide low-level serial port control from Java. SerialPort is the world leader for Java serial port solutions.
The Java SerialPort package provides access to the serial ports of your computer allowing you to communicate with modems, RS-232 barcode scanners, bluetooth bar code scanners, GPS receivers, printers, scales, sensors, smart card readers, mice, or virtually any serial device. SerialPort is unmatched in cross-platform ability and also supports our implementation of javax.comm.SerialPort from the Comm API. SerialPort is the missing link for your e-commerce applications.

java-xml-app Zaurus
by Ghost on 11/16/2004
About: With java-xml-app Zaurus you can and edit java applications without the need to complie.
java-xml-app Zaurus port is a port of the java-xml-app project
(http://java-xml-app.sourceforge.net also a project of mine) specificly make to run
on the Sharp Zaurus. Although this should run on any JDK versions
1.1.8 and upwards(And from my tests it does).
java-xml-app was designed with Java developers and end users in mind
it enables a developer to Create and edit java applications
without the need to complie the source(as long as only XML is used, although
small helper classes will still need to be recompiled on a machine with javac).
End users and developers will benifit from the simplicity of software distribution,
Application descriptors can be loaded directly from a URL and for the
future all required librarys and resources will also automaticly be loaded
from specified data sources(URL/FTP...).
I have found that between 60% and 100% of an entire application can be developed
in XML depending on application complexity and needs.
